CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!

Titillate
 (tit·il·late. v)
•To stimulate by touching lightly; tickle.
•To excite (another) pleasurably, superficially or erotically.

This August The Upholstery pulls back the curtains on society to expose a most revealing show of all that is Titillating.

Titillation can take many forms....
from the simplest of things that  make us smile, to the personal thrills and desires that turn us on and sets the heart racing.

Throughout history humans have sought titillation in various forms, from gaudy Victorian vaudeville, seductive burlesque stage shows and sexy strip clubs to the brutality of humanity, gladiators, bullfights and blood sports.

We can be titillated on a broader social level, from the non-stop bombardment of the 24/7 reality TV world and the ever growing library of oddities on the internet to the harsh reality of the nightly news and tabloid trash.

From feathers, lace, leather, latex and chains to the personal triggers that arouse us on an individual level … what pushes your buttons?

So tickle us, excite us, turn us on and evoke that tingling sensation on the unsuspecting mind of the viewer as they succumb to the sensory overload that is Titillate!

 
ALL art forms are eligible: including New Media - Video projections/art, Sound art, short films/docos, Street Art, (Graffiti, sticker, stencils, wheat-paste posters), photography conceptual art, performance art, installation, assemblage, mosaic sculpture, ceramics, prints, paintings, drawings and anything else you can throw at us..... Bring it on!

All Artists - you are required to submit the following

• Name & Contact details
• Current CV
• 50 – 100 words… the concept/work you are proposing
• up to 3 images of examples of works (applicants who have participated in an Upholstery exhibition need not do this) …either good quality slides or JPEG or PDF files on a CD are preferred but photographs will be accepted.
• A stamped self addressed envelope if you want your photos/CD back.
• Artists will be notified within a week of the due dates.
• Late applications can not be accepted.
